The conditions of individual and collective well-being can be strongly influenced by the perception of the risk associated with climate change, the high seismic and hydrogeological vulnerability of the Italian territory and the exposure of parts of the territory to severe environmental degradation. Indeed, safety assessment and risk prediction can have obvious impacts on economic development and social living conditions. In this context, original research projects are promoted, aimed at defining innovative criteria and methodologies for risk assessment, also through the development of appropriate mathematical models and the use of digital technologies in the public and private sectors, and the implementation of good practices for the evaluation of bio-psychosocial factors. The research activities are related to the following topics: the innovative and sustainable techniques for the construction and / or recovery of infrastructures for the prevention and mitigation of risk, also in relation to its correct perception at an individual and collective level, the assessment of damage with respect to construction materials in order to verify the risk conditions structures, the identification of biological and psychological markers related to the stress connected to the perceived risk and the psychological factors associated with it, the analysis of the subjective perception of risk and the assessment of its effects on individual and collective prevention.

In this line, research projects are promoted for the reduction of the environmental impact through the design and application of new technologies, processes and methodologies for a more efficient and sustainable development, with a view to a circular economy capable of guaranteeing a high level of well-being of individuals and the community. The issues will be addressed by integrating transversal skills in the definition of systems and strategies for the reduction of CO2 emissions through the implementation of efficient transport and storage processes, the study and mechanical characterization of materials, including innovative and eco-sustainable ones, aimed at a optimization of resources, the reuse and recycling of materials, the exploitation of renewable sources, the improvement of the quality of life in indoor and outdoor environments, the analysis of behavior and the assessment of citizens' perception in relation to sustainable development.

In this line, research projects are promoted for the understanding of the mechanisms and processes of lifestyles related to the psychophysical well-being of subjects operating under risk conditions, of patients with disabling diseases and for the promotion of correct lifestyles for the general population, but also for environmental sustainability, in relation to age, gender, diet and level of physical activity; The researchers will be develop projects with the aim of characterising therapeutic interventions to improve the lifestyle of individuals suffering from chronic metabolic diseases (e.g. obesity, diabetes mellitus, cancer). The research objectives will be pursued with innovative and sustainable methods of measurement (locally and remotely) and with the analysis of biomolecular, psychological, kinematic, physiological and environmental data, also aimed at the personalization of interventions. The tools will also be based on new ICT technologies (wearables, IoT, Machine Learning), and innovative molecular biology technologies.

Research projects will be carried out relating to the design, development, implementation and validation of innovative interventions with high technological content for the health and well-being of subjects with disabling and / or chronic physical or mental diseases, strongly based on the integration of multidisciplinary models and tools, and in close collaboration with e-health specialists and entrepreneurs. In particular, the new therapeutic and rehabilitative approaches will integrate methodologies and skills in the biological (molecular markers), psychological (clinical psychology, health, rehabilitation, physiological and neuropsychology), motor (assessment of motor skills) and technological (positive and persuasive technology, gamification, user experience, data science) field. Innovative systems will be studied and developed for more effective and personalized diagnostics. Studies will also be conducted aimed at the multidisciplinary evaluation of the processes, effects, outcomes and sustainability of the interventions.

Research projects will be developed concerning the identification of individual, relational, psychosocial, biological and environmental factors that can favor stressful conditions or promote psychological well-being, health and quality of life in family, professional and health contexts. Integrated approaches will be promoted with innovative methodologies for the evaluation of the synergistic effects of the most significant psychological and biological factors in the development of stress and difficulties or disorders of a psychological and relational nature. Prevention and improvement strategies will also be promoted in the family, professional and health spheres and the evaluation of the interventions implemented.
