Political and Institutional Communication

1st Level Academic Master

OBJECTIVES
The aim of the Master is to provide advanced knowledge and competencies related to political, electoral and institutional communication and communication strategies, also understood as an instrument of government, and declined in the new forms of political participation. More generally, the Master aims to operate with a professional profile in the field of information and political communication as well as opinion dynamics, aiming to provide a practical and comprehensive overview of the theories and research developed in the field of institutional and political communication, with particular attention to strategies implemented online and through social networking and the ways in which public administrations related to the outside world. Finally, the Master will devote attention to the analysis of the effects of political communication on socialization, knowledge, participation, voting choices and public opinion in general, in order to provide the students with useful notions for the management of political communication crises and conflicts.

 

TARGET STUDENTS
The academic master was developed for candidates aiming to continue to learn more about the functioning of national, regional and local institutions as well as the institutional and political communication tools of these entities.

More specifically, the master is aimed at:

  • Communication professionals: professionals working in the field of institutional political or electoral communication, including journalists and information workers who follow digital communication in public administration or on behalf of elected officials in institutions;
  • Civil servants: employees and officials who wish to improve their communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Political consultants: consultants and professionals offering political and strategic communication services, especially in the area of new forms of political participation and social networks.

In summary, the academic master is aimed at anyone who wants to acquire a comprehensive and practical background in the theories and research of political and institutional communication, with a special focus on online and social network strategies, as well as the effects of communication on political participation and public opinion.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Degree attained before Ministerial Decree 509/99, or Bachelor's Degree, attained pursuant to MD 270/04 in any discipline or equivalent degree.

 

STRUCTURE AND DURATION

The master has an annual duration, for a total of 1.500 hours.

The modality of didactic implementation is full online with e-learning lessons provided through the academic platform accessible 24 hours a day.

In order to attain the final certificate, the student must pass the multiple-choice profit exams provided for each macro module of the course and take a final exam consisting of a paper to be discussed before a committee of faculty appointed by the University.
